Laziness

I really hate when people say they "can't get a job". That is just ridiculous to me. If you truly WANT to get a job - you can. Usually the people who don't have jobs and say that they can't get one... just use that as an excuse to do nothing. Maybe it's just me, but when I WANT something bad enough, I won't stop until I get it.

I work with SO many people at my restaurant job who have graduated from college and have degrees. But, they are so complacent doing what they do. Sure, the tips are good. But, you could do better if you TRIED!

I guess I just hate when people tell me they "can't" do something - YES, you CAN!

Up, Growing

I've learned so much throughout my 25 years. I've been though a lot and have truly grown. I've learned to appreciate the beautiful things in life & have acquired the ability to distinguish those who are positive influences in my life as to those who are negative. I have learned that I do not need any one person to make me feel good about myself, I love me for ME. I don't have many close friends and I can honestly say (at this point in my life), I am glad. I am at such a different place than most of the friends I have.

If someone is happier with me NOT in their life, then so be it. Because I can honestly say, I am happier without certain people in my life anymore.

Life is a roller coaster. I never know what is going to happen next. I just keep my seatbelt on and hope for the best.

Utah - Christmas

The first night I got there, I made dinner for Nick, his room mate Kyle & I ...salad, garlic bread & linguine with clams. It was pretty good.

After dinner that first night, Nick and I headed to downtown park city. We saw a group of about 7 people in their early 20's. Nick figured they needed a ride so we pulled over to ask, and sure enough - they did. So we gave them a ride into town (for $10). These kids were crazy! I'm pretty sure they were drunk.

This is Nicks house. It's such a cool tri-level house.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Park City called Shabu Shabu House. It's sooo GOOD! It's really different. There aren't too many restaurants like it.

This is how we eat dinner. Me, Nick & his three phones.

There are places to hang your coat in every restaurant. I don't know why but I just think that is so cool.

Christmas Day at The Canyons. I had lox, salmon, caviar, ham, beef, mashed potatos & a scallop salad! It was amazzzzzingggg!!! THEN I had a WONDERFUL massage while Nick worked.

Burgers & Beers at O'Shucks... just down the street from Nicks.

I love Nicholas so so much & am so thankful to have him in my life.
It was a good trip! xo

The Worst Feelings

5. Getting Pulled Over
Everyone can agree on this one. That feeling you get in the pit of your stomach when you see those red & blue lights in your rear view mirror. Sucks!

4. Going to the Doctor
Especially if you think something may be really wrong. Maybe even worse... waiting for them to get back to you.

3. Losing
Losing sucks, period. Especially if it's a game you were winning and/or almost won.

2. The Airport Drop-Off
Dropping someone off or being dropped off by someone you love, saying goodbye & knowing you aren't going to see that person for a long time.

1. The Call
Getting the call informing you that someone you love has died.

Gym Etiquette

1. DO NOT TALK ON YOUR CELL PHONE WHILE WORKING OUT. this is one of my biggest pet peeves. it's SO annoying. i see girls doing this ALL the time.

2. Getting completely naked in the locker room. is this really necessary? i am not a fan of seeing old naked women's T's A's and/or V's.

3. When i am on a machine, I HATE when girls will look over at my machine to see how fast i'm going, how long i have been on, etc. it's not a competition! mind ya bizness!

4. "TMI" in the sauna. I really don't want to hear strangers talking about their sex lives in the sauna and all the gory details. k thanks.

5. Clothing (or lack thereof). I hate the girls that work out in next to nothing. whether it be a jog bra, a shirt exposing a mid-drift, or pants that are just way too tight that we can see your dimples. i just think there should be some sort of dress code.

more to come...

Pack up the Moon

excerpt from this book i'm reading that i really like:

Memories are absurd things. Some are vague, some crystalline, some too painful to recollect and some so painful it's impossible to forget. Happy times are remembered with warmth and laughter, recalled as an anecdote in the pub, exaggerated for the crowd. The really good ones keep you company on an otherwise lonely evening.

The clearest memories are of those occasions when you experience great highs or lows. It's the emotion the situation inspires that you remember. That feeling of incredible exultation or terrible despair enables your brain to note the details that normally pass you by, like the color of someone's shirt, a hand gesture or how warm or cold it was. You can recall the creases cause by a smile on a loved ones lips or the way tears crept from their eyes.

But pain is hard to put into words and in life there is always pain. It's as natural as birth or death. Pain makes us who we are, it teaches us and tames us, it can destroy and it can save. We all have regrets - even Frank Sinatra had a few.

Some tragedies are of our own doing and then sometimes things happen that are out of this world's control and when it happens, it takes our breath away.

Happiness is a gift. It washes its warmth over us and reminds us of beauty. It should never be taken for granted. That thin blue line represented happiness. I didn't know that it would later represent something that I would never get back. But then I wasn't ready.

Biden

Shirtless Biden Washes Trans Am In White House Driveway

Photobucket

WASHINGTON—Taking advantage of the warm spring weather Monday, Vice President Joe Biden parked his 1981 Trans Am in the White House driveway, removed his undershirt, and spent a leisurely afternoon washing the muscle car and drinking beer.

"This baby just needs a little scrub down," said Biden, addressing a tour group as he tucked the sweat-covered top into the belt loop of his cutoff jean shorts. "Gotta get her looking good so I can impress the chicks when I'm cruising down Pennsylvania [Avenue]."

White House aides said that Biden pulled into the driveway shortly before noon, the chorus of Night Ranger's "(You Can Still) Rock In America" blaring from his car's stereo. According to witnesses, Biden spent several minutes maneuvering the Trans Am into the perfect spot, and was observed drumming his fingers on the steering wheel until the song came to a close.

The shirtless 66-year-old then entered the executive residence and greeted employees with a round of high fives and a variety of nicknames.

"Hey, hot stuff, looking good," Biden told a passing aide. "Would you know where I could get a little bucket and sponge action? My mean machine needs to be cleaned."

After acquiring the necessary washing materials, the bare-chested second-in-command returned to the driveway, where he spent several moments staring in apparent awe at the firebird decal on the hood of his car.

Biden, who purchased the white Pontiac in 1983, has made an annual tradition of taking time off each spring to wash and tune-up his vehicle. In 2008 alone, the veteran politician reportedly missed two dozen Senate sessions in order to spend some quality time "taking care of [his] baby."

"He does this every year and it really seems to rejuvenate him," Sen. Christopher Dodd (D-CT) said. "Back in 2001, the car was up on blocks in the National Mall, and he was so busy rotating those tires that he bailed on the confirmation hearings for secretary of state."

"What're you gonna do, though?" Dodd added. "That car rocks."

As Biden gently applied a sponge to the hood and moved it in small circular motions across the car's contours, a number of White House interns walked by and caught the vice president's attention.

"She's a real beaut, ain't she?" said Biden, popping open a wide-mouth can of Coors Light and tilting back his head to take a long drink. "Back when Smokey And The Bandit came out, everyone wanted the black paint job, but looking back now, I'm thankful the dealership didn't have it in stock."

"Oops, looks like I got a little brewha in the flavor-saver," added Biden, referring to his wispy, four-day-old mustache. "Any of you girls care to join me for another tallboy?"

Biden then spent the next 15 minutes boasting about the features on his Trans Am.

"They don't make kick-ass T-tops like this anymore, sweetheart," said Biden, shaking his head in exaggerated disappointment. "And check out these gold snowflake rims. They're a real bitch to clean, but they're totally worth it."

"Back in the day we used to call 'em panty-melters," Biden continued. "One babe caught a glimpse of those rims after a Cinderella concert in '86 and she couldn't get into that backseat fast enough. If any of you girls wanna take a ride, just let ol' Joe know."

For the remainder of the day, Biden occupied himself with hosing off his car, giving the side doors an extra coat of wax, and throwing out a variety of items from beneath its front seats, including crumpled-up fast food wrappers, a number of soft packs of Doral kings, an issue of Cheri magazine from 1991, and Senate bill S. 486.

According to White House officials, Biden was still hanging out in the driveway long after dusk, revving the engine at passersby and explaining the intricacies of a turbocharged V-8 motor to anyone within earshot.

As of press time, Biden had convinced Jennifer Britmore, a 41-year-old mother of four visiting from Indiana, to let him show her around D.C. '

growing. up.

i've been doing a lot of growing, thinking & soul searching lately. i've had my back pushed against the wall a few times and i've always came out a better, stronger person from the experience. sometimes we need a good shaking to make us wake up and take a good look at ourselves and really see the bigger picture.

i feel like i am starting another chapter of my life. even though you are technically considered an adult when you turn 18, i have never really felt like an adult until now. my first 23 years of life were lived somewhat carelessly. i loved and lost a lot and didn't necessarily know how to deal with that in the best way.

entering my 24th year of life, i feel like i have accomplished a pretty good amount of things thus far. i have my associates degree in liberal studies. i am working on my bachelors in graphic design with a minor in marketing (and i only have like TEN classes left)! and i even scored an AWESOME internship doing exaaactly what i LOVE - working in baseball and doing graphic design.

i think i've dwelled in the negative a lot and not stopped and realized how much i really have going for me and how GOOD of a person i really am! i sell myself short all too much and put myself down in my mind because that's how people have made me feel. but i know better now.

i AM a good person with a HUGE heart.
i AM intelligent, witty, and funny.
i LOVE the ones i call friends and would do anything for them and they know it.

i truly appreciate everything i have and am happy to be where i am today. i don't take back any bad experience or negative thing i've been through in my life because they have shaped me and made me the woman i am today.

miss misery

I'll fake it through the day
with some help from johnny walker red
and the cold pain behind my eyes
that shoots back through my head
with two tickets torn in half
and a lot of nothing to do
but it's alright cause some enchanted night, i'll be with you
tarot cards and the lines in my hand
tell me i'm wrong but then untrue
got plans for both of us
that involved a trip out of town
to a place i've seen in a magazine
that you left lying around
i can't hold my liquor but
i keep a good attitude
cause it's alright some enchanted night, i'll be with you
and though you'd rather see me gone
than to see this come the day
i'll be waiting for you anyway
next door the tv's flashing
blue frames on the wall
it's a comedy from the 70's
when the lead no one recalls
vanished into oblivion
it's easy to do
and i cry to sleep when you talked to me
the day you said we were through
but it's alright some enchanted night, ill be with you

Fairytale.

A man of words and not of deeds
Is like a garden full of weeds,
And when the weeds begin to grow,
It’s like a garden full of snow.
And when the snow begins to fall,
It’s like a bird upon the wall,
And when the bird away does fly,
It’s like an eagle in the sky.
And when the sky begins to roar,
It’s like a lion at the door.
And when the door begins to crack,
It’s like a stick across your back,
And when your back begins to smart,
It’s like a penknife in your heart,
And when your heart begins to bleed,
You’re dead, you’re dead, you’re dead indeed.

The Greek Slave

"The Greek Slave" - Hiram Powers

sonnet by Elizabeth Barrett Browning
inspired by the statue.

Sole

i put up a tent to daydream in.
the freedom fighter calls life a nuclear nightmare.
and if you don't like the tone of my sinking ship,
pray for me while i cry for you.

whoever i can't kill, my daughter will.
and at night, in complete silence, i can convince myself i'm psychic
as i walk through berkeley and wish i had a cause.
i know it's bullshit, but it's all i can believe in.
the more time i spend staring at people who never dare to stare,
i also know it isn't hopeless if i'm thinking this.
and avoiding cliche is like lying in my living room,
staring at the ceiling, complaining about how ugly that it's getting.

only two of my childhood friends escaped the experiment,
some were killed, some became killers.
some mourn a lack of ambition through parents
who passsed on the nest 'til there were no worms left.
the successful went on to go to college then do nothing;
if you're their fool, you're everyone's fool and no one's friend.
it's a native american thing, you'd never understand why
i've learned to eat pain like a sunday snack,
march to no tune, and got a collar and doggy biscuit.

self-taught master of sleepless hallucination.
loveless thinking pill,
learn it to dance for my sister's dog sake,
my mother's mother, and my father's veins sake.
they all wanna spill my guts into the street and wrestle me in it
like i can't digest what i can't swallow

for all the loveless pedestrians holding bloodless hands.
and when alone with death for the first time, but realize it was there all along.
the amusement park lines aren't as good as the in-my-head-lines:
this is my newest installment in my latest last will and testament series.
i see people who try too hard to be themselves
and wanna throw them lines like no one is themselves,
follow your guts to traffic.
'cause your remote control dreams are worth more to you than to them.
you have to believe me, i wrote this with a pink pen
and my face never goes red when they ask what it means.
misunderstand me in your perfect pose, while plastic seats scream, "your excellence,"
your pretty putty padded ass.

well-trained men learned to worship the lovenessness all around;
shallowness is quite becoming.
all the parts of life that are not mind-numbing experiences,
throw your hats off to those of us who can run off cheap batteries and wine.
we'd love to run you off the road and write a book about it.
if you stood between the day the little pig took the big pigs out to dinner
to eat them with barren hands
that done wrote ten million words and never got my point across.
like people afraid to be different wanna make a difference.
most nights i sleep alone and freezing and have no dreams.
tonight is different: awake and freezing, i have no skin
left for my parachute.

this advice isn't for you, it's for me; in my stomach forever.
tomorrow they'll forget me 'cause i never learned to kill for oil but then again,
i never learned to sit still and probably never will.
feel the need to hide these beautiful places until my rich man's death bed.
we can't sleep, i can't write at all in my room 'cause i had a girl there once,
and the moral of the story is...
there is no story.

City and Colour

this man is amazing.
i love these lyrics!

And you can try to fight this all you want
But I wont be there when you’re all alone
And this new season brings with it signs of hope
You can leave me waiting by the phone

And I know there is some place I can go
Where no one knows my name

And I still remember the sound of your voice
All though your silence still rings so clear
Do you think that I would call just to hear you breathe?
You always knew that just one word would dry up all my tears

And I know there is some place I can go
Where no one knows my name
No one knows my name

Your heart is an empty room

Burn it down till the embers smoke on the ground
And start new when your heart is an empty room
With walls of the deepest blue

Home's face: how it ages when you're away
Spring blooms and you find the love that's true
But you don't know what now to do
Cause the chase is all you know
And she stopped running months ago

And all you see
Is where else you could be
When you're at home
Out on the street
Are so many possibilities
To not be alone

The flames and smoke climbed out of every window
And disappeared with everything that you held dear
And you shed not a single tear for the things that you didn't need
'Cause you knew you were finally free

'Cause all you see is where else you could be when you're at home
Out on the street are so many possibilities to not be alone

And all you see is where else you could be
When you're at home
There on the street are so many possibilities to not be alone

Inmates

When you said you loved me...
did you really love me?
Or did the words just spill out...
like drool on my pillow?
‘Cause I was naked when you said those words,
but I felt covered in your whispered worship.

And as you passed out fast on my shoulder,
I imagined a child waiting so sad and still for his mom to arrive.
Did she leave you an orphan,
in that big, brown leather chair?
Said, “ Don’t you move a muscle, kid,
I’ll be back in twenty years,”
You were scared, you were lonely,
but you must’ve been aware;
life is a series of calluses, this is just another layer.
So, build’em up, tough it out...
Yeah, that’s your skin – don’t let anyone under there.

Navesink Banks

"All hope abandon, ye who enter here"
Said the sign I read that was hanging above her bed
And the siren's all willing
But a man can't ignore the signs
You gotta keep a good eye on the winding road ahead

And my first sin was a young American girl
And my first sin was a young American girl

And I spent time 'neath the trestles
With the punks and the dimestore saints
We kept faith and a switchblade tucked beneath my coat
And I ran with dirty angels
Slept out in the rain
We were scared and tired and barely seventeen

And my first sin was the fear that made me old
And my first sin was the fear that made me old

And now I walk down by the shipyards
Near the place where I was born
Saying, "Oh Maria, if you'da known me when"
But she only smiles by the light on the Navesink Banks
Saying, "Listen baby, I know you now"

Then she steps into the river
And I just stand by the moon
Thinking 'bout a ghost I hear at night
And she says, "Your first sin was a lie you told yourself.
"And your first sin was a lie you told yourself."

Moab

They say the sun won't burn forever
But that's a science too exact
I can prove it
Watch - we're crossing the state line
See those headlights coming towards us?
That's someone going back to a town they said they'd never
They swore it on their life
But you can't break out of a circle
That you never knew you were in

There's nothing that the road cannot heal
Washed under the black top, gone beneath my wheels
There's nothing that the road cannot heal

Some will spend their precious time trying to decorate their lives
Taking measurements for some new look they want
So from one to ten, ten's exactly what I am
Zero being everything I'm not
Tell me what you like
Is it less than five?

Voltaire

"It is forbidden to kill; therefore all murderers are punished unless they kill in large numbers and to the sound of trumpets"

"Stand upright, speak thy thoughts, declare The truth thou hast, that all may share; Be bold, proclaim it everywhere: They only live who dare."

"Of all religions, the Christian should of course inspire the most tolerance, but until now Christians have been the most intolerant of all men."

MAN MAN

will we ever find the one that we were meant to love like we want to be loved
take this flight into the sun
or did they die in a dry hump fire years before we were born
when all the hogs devoured the dogs like lightening after the storm
and her lips were wet like a rose with summer sweat
and when our eyes met i knew i was through
tiptoes on cobblestones in glass stilettos
it breaks my knees when she hides her nosebleeds in my dreams as i sleep
and i know i'll never be the man that she thinks she really needs
but it don't stop me from trying to be

On the Manner of Addressing Clouds

Gloomy grammarians in golden gowns,
Meekly you keep the mortal rendezvous,
Eliciting the still sustaining pomps
Of speech which are like music so profound
They seem an exaltation without sound.
Funest philosophers and ponderers,
Their evocations are the speech of clouds.
So speech of your processionals returns
In the casual evocations of your tread
Across the stale, mysterious seasons. These
Are the music of meet resignation; these
The responsive, still sustaining pomps for you
To magnify, if in that drifting waste
You are to be accompanied by more
Than mute bare splendors of the sun and moon.

Millstone

I used to be such a burning example,
I used to be so original.
I used to care, I was being cared for.
Made sure I showed it to those that I love.

I used to sleep without a single stir,
'Cause I was about my father's work.

Well take me out tonight,
This ship of fools I'm on will sink.
A millstone around my neck,
Be my breath, there's nothing I wouldn't give.

I used to pray like God was listening.
I used to make my parents proud.
I was the glue that kept my friends together,
Now they don't talk and we don't go out.

I used to know the name of every person I'd kissed.
Now I made this bed and I can't fall asleep in it.

Well take me out tonight,
This ship of fools I'm on will sink.
A millstone around my neck,
Be my breath, there's nothing I wouldn't give.

Throw me that lifeline,
This ship of fools I'm on will sink.
A millstone around my neck
Be my breath, there's nothing I wouldn't give.

Never hit the brakes
there's no time to save him,
He just ran out in the street
anybody know his name?
I think I recognize him
sure it's him?
... mistake

Woah.

So take me out tonight.
This ship of fools I'm on will sink.
A millstone around my neck.
Be my breath, there's nothing I wouldn't give.

To save my life tonight.
This ship of fools I'm on will sink
A millstone around my neck
Be my breath, there's nothing I wouldn't give.

Under a Honeymoon

You look at me like you’ve been saved
From another one that got away.
So I’m your latest cup of tea
To keep your cold hands company,
And I will warm you.
I will calm you down.
Until those waters
Are ready to be sailed upon,
Under a honeymoon.
Under a honeymoon.

You say you’ve never felt this way
At least not this early.
We decide to hold nothing back –
We’ll act how we want to act.
And so, eventually, we became pretty good actors.
Acting and reacting and acting and reacting
Under a honeymoon.

We know the sun is gonna rise,
We tell ourselves to act surprised,
We’re comforted in our denial
That dark love can be reconciled
Oh please, oh please, …. reconcile me
From all these bad actors,
All these bad endings.

Under a honeymoon;
We want what we’re not and we don’t want to stop
‘cause it feels right –
or at least it’s feeling good,

….at least it feels good…

I always fall in love too soon,
Caught beneath the glow of a honeymoon

Shakespeare

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.

Waiting

A coma might feel better than this,
Attempting to discover where to begin.
You're weighed down, you're full of something.
Of sickness, and desertion.
You're weighed down, you're full of something,
You're underneath it all.

So say goodbye to love,
And hold your head up high.
There's no need to rush
We're all just waiting, waiting to die.

Hoping a better place is all I need,
With moments of innocence and mystery.
Oh, it's the little things you miss.
Like waking up all alone.
Oh, it's the little things you miss,
When you're underneath it all.

So say goodbye to love,
And hold your head up high.
There's no need to rush
We're all just waiting, waiting to die.

All your friends seem like enemies
When you're broken down and empty.
All your friends seem like enemies
When you're broken down and empty.

So say goodbye to love,
And hold your head up high.
There's no need to rush
We're all just waiting, waiting to die.
